Mercedes 280SL Convertible

In March 1963 Mercedes introduced the new generation of SL sports cars, launching the 230SL at the Geneva Show of that year. Mercedes engineering, together with elegance and practicality made the “pagoda” top SL one of the most distinctive designs of the era.

Our car is a beautiful and very original Mercedes 280SL from 1970. The odometer shows 88870 miles, which we believe to be correct but are unable to confirm. This car starts, runs and drives beautifully and has a current MOT which it achieved without any work and without a single notified advisory. Over the years the car has been cared for, with the last owner having the vehicle from the mid eighties. After his death, his wife kept the car for a further four years before being able to part with it.

This car is ready to be used, enjoyed and admired in it’s current state. The original spot welds around the wheel arches, bumpers and wings are all clearly visible. The interior is original and in very good condition and both the colour coded “Pagoda” hard top and black soft top that accompany the car are similarly in very good condition. It is possible to improve the car, but we feel it better that the next owner has the opportunity to see how wonderful this car is before they decide whether or not to develop her from her largely original state.
